Buiksloterham is one of the most complex and innovative areas undergoing transformation in Amsterdam. Once home to heavy chemical industries, it is now at the center of an ambitious regeneration project aimed at converting it into a sustainable, mixed-use residential and manufacturing neighborhood.
The project promotes zero-energy buildings, smart energy grids, sustainable district heating systems, green mobility, innovative stormwater management, and material recycling. In this context, our role was to identify urban planning and architectural solutions capable of combining spatial quality and environmental sustainability.
We contributed significantly to the drafting of the rules maps, essential tools for regulating future development in the area, verifying the assigned building indices with 3D and plastic models. We also supervised the design of public spaces and landscapes, studying the relationships between new developments and the existing urban fabric.
